Rwanda Red Cross Society – Structure
At the National level
- The General assembly is the highest decision-making organ of Rwanda Red Cross society. The general assembly is held once every four years.
- The National Board of RRC is composed of President, Vice-president, Treasurer, four Representatives from local committees and five Representatives from the public authorities. It organizes quarterly meetings.
- The National Youth Council is comprised of President, Vice-president and Treasurer.
- The office of the Secretary General comprises three departments. The Technical Support, Organizational Development and Administration and Finance departments. It is responsible to coordinate all programs of the national society.
At Local levels
Concerning committees, nowadays the decentralization has become a reality. In spite of being initiated recently it has good results because about four years ago, all the programs were centralized at the headquarters in Kigali.
(Rwanda Red Cross is structured hierarchically up to the grass roots level. The decentralization recently initiated countrywide has proved to be relevant to the mission of the movement. About four years ago, all our programs were centralized at the headquarters in Kigali.)Rwanda Red Cross hierarchical organization draws its structure from the administrative structure of the country. Henceforth, Rwanda Red Cross operates throughout thirty districts.
At local level, RRC is hierarchically structured as follows:
- The provincial council.
- General assembly at the district, sector, cell and village level.
- Coordinating extended committees at the district, sector and cell level.
- Local committees at the district, sector and cell level assigned to expand the movement’s activities.
