Rwanda Red Cross assists the government in various humanitarian activities regarding the prevention of disasters during peacetime as well as in armed conflicts. Some of these disasters are often natural like floods, landslides, famine, displacements of people and earthquakes. The big range of these activities is assigned to Rwanda Red Cross owing to its experience in disaster management. The disaster management program is comprised of three components:

• Disaster preparedness

• Disaster risk reduction

• Disaster response or recovery.
